Enjoy National Small Business Week: May 4-10

National Small Business Week, which runs May 4-10, is an annual celebration of entrepreneurship and small business development. This year, Courtni and Stephen Doherty, owners of Circle Creek LLC in Auburn, will be honored in Washington, D.C., on May 5 as the Washington State Small Business Person of the Year.
Courtni Doherty started her pediatric speech therapy practice in 2015 in a 900-sq.-ft. space. In 2018 she moved into a 3,400-sq.-ft. space and reached out to SBDC business advisor Taryn Hornby for assistance with a loan for tenant improvements. Courtni has continued to work with Taryn and has continued to grow the scope and the size her practice. Her husband Stephen Doherty joined the business full time several years ago and Circle Creek now occupies 19,000 sq. ft. of clinic space and has more than 40 staff who provide speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and behavioral health services all under one roof.
The Washington SBDC is a program of Washington State University and provides no-cost, confidential business advising to any small business owner in the state who wants to start, grow or buy/sell a business. Contact the Washington SBDC today to speak with an expert advisor whose only agenda is to help you succeed.
Welcoming New Pullman Physician Residents

Match Day was Friday, March 21, where we unveiled Pullman’s third cohort of Family Medicine Physician Residents, Dr. Risper Kirui, Dr. Corey Pendergraft, and Dr. Nathan Swallow! The Family Medicine Residency Program is a partnership between Pullman Regional Hospital and Washington State University’s Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine; this 3-year program will help train and retain family medicine physicians in rural areas, like Pullman.
Dr. Kirui, Dr. Pendergraft, and Dr. Swallow will join our first and second cohort of physician residents alongside attending Family Medicine Physicians Dr. Brenna Harris, Dr. Jennifer Shonk, Dr. Molly Thompson, and Dr. Molly Webber at the Family Medicine Residency Center located inside Pullman Regional Hospital, this summer.
Help Cougs care for Cougs! Philanthropy is essential as we take steps to ensure Pullman recruits, trains, and is home to doctors of the highest caliber. Consider contributing to the Family Medicine Residency Program to help support state-of-the-art simulation technology, faculty leadership and programmatic costs.
